Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream came to Oust looking to freshen up their brand on social media while staying true to their time-honored, family-owned roots. With a focus on driving participation in their #HappierAtHandels Sweepstakes, they needed a creative solution that would modernize their presence without losing their charm.

Serving as both Social Art Director and Senior Designer, I led the project to craft a new “social brand”. From reimagining the tone of voice to designing eye-catching visuals and creating engaging content, I revitalized their brand with vibrant and playful design elements that stayed true to their heritage. The result was a dynamic social presence that resonated with their audience, boosted engagement, and helped elevate the #HappierAtHandels campaign.

By introducing a hint of pink to the color palette, pairing it with playful cursive typography, and incorporating whimsical illustrative elements, I infused new energy and personality into the brand's social presence. Alongside the visuals, I crafted cheeky copy that reinforced the brand’s emphasis on happiness and created a cohesive and inviting experience across every post.

the ugc challenge

An additional challenge for this project was finding a way to showcase the UGC content generated by the contest in a way that felt cohesive and on-brand. To address this, I designed a customizable frame that seamlessly integrated user-generated photos into the visual world we had created. This solution ensured that every piece of content felt polished, branded, and aligned with the refreshed aesthetic.
